Carver County Divorce Records
When a divorce is filed in the Carver County District Court, the court administrator creates a record that becomes a part of the county's official court records. During the filing process and the ensuing proceedings, various documents are created, including the divorce decree, divorce agreement, custody agreement, and divorce petition.
While divorce records are public, documents that reveal details, such as financial disclosures and information involving minor children, are typically redacted due to privacy concerns. While the general public uses these records for genealogy research, case parties use them for name changes, remarriage, child custody and support, and financial settlement. Plain copies ofdivorce decrees are available through Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO).
